Hello! Nice to meet you, my name is Tia. I am a homeschooled, small-town pastor’s kid from the back of the desert. I’m married to my best friend, Chris.
When I think of “the good life,” I think of small-town church, home cooked meals, a house with a green backyard, and coffee.
I moved out of my parent’s house at age 21 without a driver’s license and very little to my name. I ended up nearly starving with not much hope of getting to a grocery store, much less having enough to buy anything there.
Why did I give up the sunshine, free food, and having no job or bills to pay? Point blank, I wanted to get married. I had taken a month-long internship at the International House of Prayer in Kansas City. I loved it so much I wanted to go back. What better place to hang around looking for a potential husband?
Turns out I didn’t actually marry an IHOP’er (that’s what they call anyone who is a regular there). I married a professional nerd. Yes, I have a huge thing for nerds. Video games, glasses, dresses badly… the whole deal. I think I get it from my Mom. She married a nerd too.
I do miss the sunshine and small towns. What I miss most are the mountains and stars. They remind me of how BIG God is and how big his love is. I need that sense of grandeur. But it is worth it. Chris is my best friend!
The best thing about marriage is (besides the obvious) is feeling safe enough to confess my dirtiest, darkest secrets with my best friend. I’ve never had this so deeply with anyone else.
My goal in life is to make God smile and have something to take with me after this life is over, something that lasts an eternity. I want an impact. Real impact. There is only one thing in this life that lasts eternity: people. I’m here make people smile because that makes God smile too.
Here’s one to start your day: Check out this pep talk that finally helped me out of my comfort zone. It was the very first blog post on this site!
Or, if you’re a fellow coffee lover, find out the truth about quality coffee.
Thank you for visiting with me today! I hope you found something on here useful. Most of all I hope it gave you a smile 🙂
